This special excursion departed Sandpoint, Idaho on Sunday, October 10 and ran 219 miles over Montana Rail Link's 4th Subdivision, former Northern Pacific Mainline, to Missoula, Montana. 4449 arrives in Sandpoint, Idaho - October 9, 2004 Runby near Idaho - Montana State Line View from the Pony along the Clark Fork River Arrival in Missoula at the end of the first day. Monday, October 11 the train ran 193 miles to Bozeman, Montana. Runby at the Missouri River crossing of the old Milwaukee Road Engine and train with Pony Express 2nd Chance Tuesday, October 12 saw the train run 140 miles to Billings, Montana where the train stayed on public display for two days.
